for a year as an untrained teacher at Thornlow School, Weymouth from
September 1958. I then trained
as a teacher at King Alfred's College, Winchester and studied Religious
Studies and Music, qualifying in 1961. I taught for forty years at Hardley
School, Holbury, Southampton and held the post of head of Religious Studies
and was a Housemaster for seven years, Ket Stage 4 liaison, Upper School
courses, Head of Pshe, Examinations Officer for 32 years and in my final
years was senior teacher and member of the Senior Management team. At 60 I
worked as a Librarian in a Sixty Form Library. I am now a School Governor
thereby extending my association with the school to 48 years. |

I joined the Meteorological Office from school
and worked at various RAF bases in England and Germany until I retired in
2000.I finished up at HQ Strike Command at High Wycombe and was part of a
team producing weather information for the military in this country and
overseas including the Falklands conflict and First Gulf War. Moved to
Bishop's Stortford for a couple of years to be near my daughter but got fed
up with Ryanair flights in and out of Stansted so Janet and I moved to
Chickerell - about a mile from where she was born.
